How to treat cigarettes/cigar Smoke effectively

This article is all about how to treat or eliminate cigarette, cigar, sheesha smoke from a room, restaurant, bar or smoking lounges and rooms.

Areas where we can improve indoor air quality, smoke treatment, oduor treatment are :-HOSPITALITY which includes Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Resto-Bars, Smoking/Cigar Lounges, Sheesha Cafes, Banquet, Party Halls, Display Kitchens.
EDUCATION/LEARNING which includes schools, colleges, universities, Libraries, Training centres, Kindergarten, Day care, pre-school, play school etc.
HEALTHCARE which includes Clinics, Nurseries, Hospitals, Medical institutes, rehab centres, laboratories, pharmaceuticals etc.
RETAIL/PUBLIC ARENAS includes Shopping malls, Cinema halls, Theatre, Opera houses, Place of worship, Food court, GYM, Stadiums etc.
INFRASTRUCTURE includes Call centres, Central control rooms, Army Barracks, Airports, Railway stations etc.
CORPORATE/SERVICES includes Offices, Business Centers, Staff accommodations, Fitness, Sports centres etc.

We can treat smoke effectively with set of filter aligning in such a way that it can treat the tobacco smoke in an area, odour treatment in an enclosed area,  there are two methods for this one is ducted system and other is cassette type free hanging system both will have some set of filter to eliminate the smoke and odour. major filters used in the systems are carbon filter, HEPA Filter, ESP Filter (Electrostatic precipitator), Pre-Filters, Bi-polar ionization system and UV light treatment and aroma diffusion.

Ducted smoke treatment system can offer 3-4 air exchanges per hour and cassette systems can offer 2-3 air exchanges per hour.

Ducted smoke treatment system
Ducted smoke treatment system have two inlets and air to be treated is extracted to one of the inlet with the help of an extraction fan (Better to install a pre-filter) this air will be then feeded to box type or concealed type smoke treatment system where air will pass through five stages of filtration, first a pre-filter then to ESP (Electrostatic precipitator) then to HEPA then to carbon filter and then install a bipolar ionization system inside. Then the treated air is supplied back to the area using another supply fan.

Cassette type smoke treatment system
Cassette type smoke treatment system will have one strong fan at the supply side or one normal fan at the return side and one normal fan at the supply side.
Lookwise it is same like cassette type AC and cassette type smoke treatment system take air to be treated from the center and which is passing through 7 stages of filtration as it first passess through the pre-filter section and then to the ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator), then to HEPA filter, then to combination of Carbon and TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) filter and then UV light treatment and finally the treated air will pass through bipolar plasma ionization system so that we will have completely treated air, these air will be thrown back to the area from the sides of the cassette system with help of the fan. if it single fan that fan will act as extraction and supply fan. if its two normal fan one fan will be installed just behind the pre-filter will act as the extraction fan and the other fan installed after the UV light will act as the supply fan.

Box Type/In Duct Smoke Treatment System
Concealed/In Duct Smoke Treatment System

Cassette Type Smoke Treatment System

ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator) Filter:-  ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator) Filter is capable of removing dust and smoke present in the air flowing throw it.Working principle is based on the induced electrostatic charge.

ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator) Filter
Carbon Filter:- Activated carbon filters are good for removing odour, VOC's Volatile organic compound effectively but the pressure drop is very high for these filters.

Pre-Filter:- Pre-filters are made of different materials like aluminium/metal mesh, synthetic or PVC mesh type. which will stop all the particles.
Pre-Filter Used(Synthetic)

Pre-Filter New (Synthetic mesh)
HEPA Filter:- HEPA Filter will filter bacterias, Allergens, Viruses and other particles as less as 0.3 microns and able to collect 99.97% of the particles.
